This
spatial exhibition was designed with the idea of evoking emotion in the
viewer. Charlie Parker, better known as bird, lived an intense and
contrasting life. His experiences, his thoughts were represented within
the tree, while the room that contains it represents the exterior world,
what is happening around him. The first room, roots, displays his
happy, passionate, bright experience in the different cities, from
Kansas City, Chicago to New York City. The second room, the tree's
hollow, shows his struggles, his dark thoughts, his mess, while the
outside world watched him crumble. The last room, is his gift to the
world before "flying away". The branches of the trees filled with
dancing leaves and jazz. My booklet was inspired by a vintage bird field
guide to complement the ornithology exhibition.
My words are alive, complex and ever-growing.
