The intent of my spatial experience was to take the viewer on a trip through the life of Charlie Parker by expression of sound. This is represented by the use of circular imagery that conveys musical notes as well as vibrant colors throughout the exhibit. Each room is dedicated to momentous events in his life, starting with his experience in Kansas City and New York. The viewer is transported through the bubbly, bright experience as he started gaining recognition as “Yard Bird” followed by his creation of Bebop. The final room contains news articles from Parker’s unfortunate death so early on in his life along with a wall that leaves the viewer with a quote that summarizes Parker’s legacy by showing his passion for music.
Three words that describe the entire package of the experience are:
1. Multi-Layered
2. Informational
3. Vivid
