the p2 brief

so what does that music look like?

the problem

develop a comprehensive visual system that depicts the essence of bebop (aka: bop)  jazz and recognizes the contribution and life of charlie parker—one of the genre's primary creators. your solution will rely on supplied, found and self-generated imagery—both graphic and typographic—to communicate consistently across diverse media.

the method

  1. become familiar with bebop jazz—you may listen >>here
  2. read the supplied bio—research and understand
  3. review the content on the project dropmark
  4. create a list of defined attributes that describes the genre/content
  5. develop visuals that express those attributes and content semiotically—using icon, index and symbol
  6. create a set of visual assets including typeface(s), color, imagery, etc. and ultimately, informal "rules" determining their usage
all project touchpoints should be thoughtful, content-rich experiences that simultaneously express qualities of "bebop" and the significance of charlie parker while effectively employing icon, index, symbol separately and in combination with other design elements.
